Book your Song-Kul horse trek and discover one of Kyrgyzstan’s most beautiful high-altitude landscapes.
Starting in Kyzart, we organize 3- or 4-day horse-riding treks around Song-Kul Lake, including a local guide, horse, meals and yurt accomodations.
The routes cross vast high-altitude pastures and reach yurt camps set up near the lake during summer. Horses are chosen to suit each rider’s experience, and the pace is adapted to the group.
What is the itinerary for my horseback trek to Song Kul?
Departure and return in Kyzart — a guided horseback trek with a local guide.

Kyzart → Kilemche
First horseback ride through the pastures of Kilemche.
Upon arrival, you meet your guide and the horses. The guide explains how the trek will unfold, helps you settle into the saddle and adjusts the pace to the group’s experience level.
You then set off on an approximately 5-hour horseback ride towards Kilemche. This first day takes you through valleys, pastures and mountain landscapes typical of central Kyrgyzstan.
At the end of the day, dinner and overnight in a yurt with the shepherds.

Kilemche → Song-Kul
Crossing the pass and arriving at Song-Kul Lake, at over 3,000 m.
After breakfast, you continue your ride towards Song-Kul Lake.
This day takes you up to the high plateaus and gradually towards the lake. The landscape becomes more open, with herds, mountains and vast stretches of grassland.
After approximately 5 hours on horseback, you reach the shores of Song-Kul Lake, located at an altitude of over 3,000 metres.
Lunch at the camp, depending on the day’s arrangements, followed by settling into a yurt by the lake. At the end of the day, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Song-Kul, surrounded by horses, yurts and wide-open spaces.

Song-Kul → Kyzart
Final day on horseback and return to the village of Kyzart.
After breakfast, you leave Song-Kul on horseback and head back towards Kyzart.
This final stage gradually takes you back down towards the village. You cross the pastures and mountain landscapes once more, with one last opportunity to enjoy the horses and Kyrgyzstan’s wide-open spaces.
After approximately 5 hours of riding, you arrive in Kyzart and have lunch in the village. The return transfer to Bishkek is not included, but we can explain the available options according to your needs.

Kilemche → Song-Kul

The landscape gradually opens onto the high plateaus, herds and mountains. After approximately 4 hours on horseback, you reach the shores of the lake, at an altitude of over 3,000 metres.
This is often one of the highlights of the trek: a vast lake, free-roaming horses, yurts by the water and the silence of the wide-open spaces.
Lunch at the yurt camp, followed by a free afternoon to walk around the lake, meet the families at the camp, watch the horses or simply rest.

Along Song-Kul
A gentler day between Tuz Ashuu camp and Kyrjol camp.
After breakfast, you ride along Song-Kul Lake from Tuz Ashuu camp to Kyrjol camp.
This is a gentler day. You follow the lakeshore, move to a different camp and discover another side of Song-Kul, with high-altitude pastures, views across the water and nomadic life.
After approximately 4 hours of riding, you have lunch at Kyrjol camp, followed by a free afternoon to enjoy the lake, walk around the camp or rest in your yurt.

Song-Kul → Kyzart
Final day on horseback and return to the village of Kyzart.

This final stage gradually takes you back down towards the village through the mountain landscapes. It is your last opportunity to enjoy the horses and wide-open spaces before the program ends.
After approximately 4 hours of riding, you arrive in Kyzart and have lunch in the village. The return transfer to Bishkek is not included, but we can explain the available options according to your needs.
